What should We do in such a precarious situation? (COVID-19)

🖊️🖋️ : Mohammad Uvais Misbahi

As we know, a new coronavirus disease is spreading rapidly across the world. The virus has been detected in most of the countries. These Countries and Territories around the world have reported more than 5,50,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus COVID-19 that came into existence from Wuhan, China, and led to the deaths of more than 26,000. This epidemic disease has also invaded our country.  WHO reported a total of 979 COVID-19 cases (931 Indians and 48 foreign nationals) as of 29 March 2020 (10:00 am)

The toll of death and afflicted persons is increasing day by day exponentially. It is very important to stay at home in this difficult time of the country. Please prevent the spread of corona virus (Covid-19) by staying at home and follow the principles of the government and the doctors suggestions. Staying and performing Namaz at home in such risky and dangerous situation, is not against the Qur'an and hadith. So we can do so at our home also.

You would have noticed or you would have remembered that the Sunnah of almighty Allah, when the people commit immorality, enormity, felony, atrocity, depravity, illegality, delinquency and criminality, He sends down such diseases that were never in the past. In this sense the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:"Immorality never appears among a people to such an extent that they commit it openly, but plagues and diseases that were never known among the predecessors will spread among them".(01)

Aa such, my brothers! whatever disasters happen to us, are because of sins that we have committed in the past. In this regard, Allah the exalted said, "And whatever of misfortune befalls you, it is because of what your hands have earned" (02)

As Muslims, in such a precarious situation we should fear Allah the exalted and turn towards Him hoping He will create a way for us to get out from all such problematic and perilous situations. What would that be so? How do we connect with Allah at present? What ways we can close to Allah through?

A number of different principles have been put forward in this regard even though we may be able to explain it precisely in the light of Qur'an, Hadith of Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) and sayings of his companions.

One way to do for Muslims in this hazardous condition is to perform Namaz-e-hajat (the prayer of need) staying at their home such as when the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was needed so he offered Namaz and ordered his companions to do so. The prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Whoever has a need from Allah, or from one of the sons of Adam, then let him perform Wudu', performing it well, then pray two Rak`ah, then praise Allah and say Salat upon the Prophet (peace be upon him)".(03)

We Muslims also must follow the Sunnah of prophet and perform Namaz-e-Hajat. And we ask Him safety from every sin.

Another way to do at present for the Muslims is to turn towards Allah (عزوجل) with sincere repentance and do Istighfaar and they must remember Allah the Exalted by engaging in dhikr (remembrance) and tasbeeh (praise). Because whenever the people persist in asking for forgiveness, Allah grants them relief from every worry, and a way out from every hardship. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "If anyone continually asks pardon, Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress, and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide for him from where he did not reckon".(04)

The Azaan also is one of the most useful way to follow in such insecure situation. This is the Azan being made across the world at time due to coronavirus, was also done in the time of Prophet (peace be upon him) during heavy rain and wind. As such, we can follow this way of prophet's companions hoping allah will protect us from this epidemic disease.

There are lots of Du'as narrated by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) mentioned in Hadith books which we can read when we see a person afflicted with the disease. One of the most famous dua is the following :

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي عَافَانِي مِمَّا ابْتَلاَكَ بِهِ وَفَضَّلَنِي عَلَى كَثِيرٍ مِمَّنْ خَلَقَ تَفْضِيلاً

The prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Whoever sees an afflicted person then says it, he shall not be struck by that affliction". (05)

To sum up or meaning to say, whoever has Taqwa of Allah in what He has commanded and avoids what He has forbidden, then Allah will make a way for him to get out from every difficulty and will provide for him from resources he never anticipated or thought about. We should remember Allah by engaging in dhikr (remembrance) and tasbeeh (praise) and istighfar. By this way we hope, Allah will create a way for us to get out from this precarious situation (coronavirus). (Insha Allah)

In the last, I request to you all to pray for people who are infected with COVID-19. I hope and believe and trust in Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) and his Apostle Mohammad (peace be upen him)  that Allah will protect you and your family from all diseases especially Coronavirus. And my prayer now is for everyone to be safe and that there will be no more Covid-19 cases. May Allah the exalted protect everyone from epidemic disease Coronavirus and may heal all those people infected with COVID-19. (Aameen ya rabbal Aalameen)
